Bring your expertise in American Sign Language to support students in inclusive learning environments! Two contract opportunities are currently available for skilled Sign Language Interpreters passionate about making a difference. Both roles are based within the Northern California region and offer meaningful engagement across grade levels.
First Position:
- Provide interpretation services at a local high school
- Full-time hours: 35 hours per week
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 3:45 pm
- Dedicated school-based role
Second Position:
- Support elementary students
- 30 hours per week
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 2:30 pm
- Initially based in Oroville, CA – will transition to Roseville, CA for the next school year
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (national or state credential preferred)
- Prior experience working with children or within a school setting is highly desirable
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to maximize student success
- Adaptable and capable of meeting the diverse needs of students
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction and school activities for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Foster inclusion by facilitating clear communication between students, peers, and educational staff
- Adapt interpreting style to suit the age, language development, and subject area
- Assist in IEP meetings and collaborate in the educational process as needed
- Uphold confidentiality and demonstrate cultural sensitivity
