Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current proficiency and certification in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in educational environments, preferably 1:1 with students
- Understanding of the needs of students who are deaf and visually impaired
- Creative, outgoing personality, with strong interpersonal skills
- Adaptability and teamwork abilities for collaboration with teachers and support staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and effective ASL interpretation for the assigned 7th grader, enabling access to the full classroom experience
- Collaborate daily with educators and school staff, adapting communication as necessary to meet the student’s unique needs
- Foster an encouraging, supportive atmosphere in a self-contained classroom
- Track and communicate student progress and engagement
- Maintain high professional and ethical standards
