The student is based in a self-contained classroom and thrives with support from a collaborative team of dedicated teachers and staff. Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); advanced interpreting skills required
  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school or educational environment preferred
  • Comfortable working 1:1 with students with additional sensory needs
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit students with vision impairments
  • Strong interpersonal skills; enthusiasm for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Outgoing and friendly approach to engaging with students and colleagues

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ASL interpretation for all classroom instruction, peer interactions, and related activities for a single 7th grade student
  • Modify interpreting techniques to address both auditory and visual support needs
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and staff to support educational and social inclusion
  • Foster a supportive, engaging environment that encourages student participation
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold professional standards of confidentiality
