Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Demorest, Georgia
Make a meaningful impact supporting a 7th-grade student in a self-contained classroom as a full-time American Sign Language Interpreter. This contract position offers an engaging opportunity to provide 1:1 interpretation for a student who is completely deaf and also has limited vision. Responsibilities include facilitating clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers, adapting to various instructional settings, and helping to ensure equal access to educational content. Your ability to engage and connect with others will play a vital role in this student’s success and daily experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting strongly preferred
- Comfortable providing interpretation for students with additional sensory needs
- Patient, motivated, and able to adjust to individual learning styles
- Outgoing personality with a collaborative approach to working alongside teaching teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a 7th-grade student in a self-contained classroom
- Adapt interpreting strategies as needed for low-vision communication
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student learning and participation

- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
