Qualifications & Licensure:
- Certified Interpreter for the Deaf, holding valid credentials from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (BEI I, II under the previous system, or Basic under the current system)
- Experience in educational settings or with school-age children is highly valued
- Ability to interpret in a variety of classroom and campus settings, adapting styles to students’ needs
- Must complete district fingerprinting and background check
- Willingness to participate in a potential prescreen/interview process
Responsibilities:
- Deliver sign language interpretation services in classrooms and school functions for students in grades PK–8
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to ensure effective communication access
- Support IEP implementation and documentation as needed
- Serve as a resource and advocate for deaf and hard-of-hearing students on campus
- Maintain confidentiality and follow ethical practices
