Key Qualifications:
- Current certification from either the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (BEI I or II, or Basic under current guidelines)
- Experience interpreting in educational settings or with school-aged children (Pre-K to 8th grade preferred)
- Ability to adapt interpreting styles to meet individual and classroom needs
- Commitment to professional ethics and confidentiality
- Must successfully complete district-specific fingerprinting and background check before the start date
Core Responsibilities:
- Interpret instructional lessons, classroom discussions, and student interactions using American Sign Language (ASL) or appropriate modes
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Collaborate with school personnel to support student success and engagement
- Maintain professionalism and accuracy in all interpreted content
- Serve as a resource for deaf awareness and sign language best practices within the school community
This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week position, running through to the end of May 2027. You will be at the heart of a single campus, allowing you to build meaningful connections and make a tangible difference throughout the school year.
