Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language with demonstrated interpreter experience, especially in educational settings
- Familiarity with cochlear implants, hearing aids, and ALD classroom devices preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively, sharing duties with another interpreter who covers Monday–Thursday
- Commitment to providing clear, accessible communication for students with diverse needs
- Flexibility and reliability for occasional substitute coverage
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication and access to curriculum for a high school student during instructional periods
- Collaborate with educators and related service providers to foster an inclusive learning environment
- Accurately interpret spoken language to sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction
- Support adaptive communication strategies, considering the student’s use of hearing technology and personal identification as hearing
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the ethical standards for interpreting in a school setting
