Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in educational settings
- Ability to adapt communication styles to meet the needs of young children
- Certification such as EIPA, RID, or state-recognized interpreter credentials (preferred)
- Professional, patient, and compassionate demeanor
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one interpretation services for a preschooler, facilitating clear and inclusive classroom communication
- Interpret both spoken English and sign language accurately to ensure the child’s full participation in classroom activities
- Collaborate closely with teachers, aides, and therapy staff to address each student’s communication needs
- Support the child with comprehension of instructions, lessons, stories, and social interactions
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions within the classroom setting
