The assignment runs from August 12, 2026, to May 27, 2027, supporting a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom. You’ll primarily be needed on Fridays for approximately 6.5 hours per week (and occasional subbing if the other facilitator is absent), ensuring you maintain flexibility while making a genuine impact.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or Language Facilitator
- Experience interpreting in educational environments
- Familiarity with cochlear implants, hearing aids, and assistive listening devices
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to support students adjusting to mainstream school settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation for instructional times (excluding lunch or arrival/dismissal)
- Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff
- Collaborate with teaching and support teams
- Adapt interpretation methods based on student needs and behavior
