Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- National certification (e.g., EIPA, RID) preferred, but strong experience considered
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or school settings
- Passion for supporting young children and working within early childhood education
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff
- Professionalism, adaptability, and a nurturing approach
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a preschool-aged student during classroom instruction and activities
- Foster communication between the student, peers, and educators
- Support the student’s participation in classroom routines, lessons, and social interactions
- Adapt interpreting style and technique to best support developmental needs
- Help create a welcoming, inclusive environment for the student
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards
