Located near Sugar Land, TX, this part-time, contract position runs from August 12, 2026, to May 27, 2027. You'll focus on Friday coverage, working an average of 6.5 hours per day, and may be called upon to substitute on additional days if needed.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter or Language Facilitator
- Ability to tailor communication strategies to individual student needs
- Familiarity with assistive listening technology, such as cochlear implants, hearing aids, and ALD devices, is preferred
- Relevant licensure or certification in ASL interpretation is required
- Strong interpersonal skills and patience when supporting students adjusting to new educational environments
- Must pass any required background checks for school settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation for a 9th grade student during instructional times (excludes lunch, arrival, and dismissal)
- Support the student’s understanding of classroom instruction, adapting as their needs change
- Collaborate with teaching staff, behavioral support professionals, and a fellow part-time language facilitator (job share arrangement)
- Assist with day-to-day communication needs and ensure the student feels included and empowered
- Maintain accurate and professional records as required
