Desired Skills & Experience:
- Valid and current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience in an educational environment is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interactions with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting standards
- Ability to adapt interpreting style to meet diverse communication needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate interpretation between ASL and spoken English in the classroom and during school-related activities
- Support student engagement in both academic and social aspects of school life
- Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to facilitate an inclusive environment
- Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to school policies and interpreting codes of conduct
