Work exclusively on Fridays, facilitating communication and inclusion for a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom setting. Sharing responsibilities with another language facilitator, you’ll play a crucial role during instructional time while enjoying a collaborative, supportive atmosphere.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience interpreting in school settings
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a job-share arrangement
- Prior experience supporting students who use hearing aids, Cochlear implants, or assistive listening devices
- Familiarity with interpreting for students in behavioral or specialized classroom environments
- Appropriate state licensure or credentials for sign language interpreting in schools
- Strong communication skills and the ability to foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation services for a 9th-grade student during instructional times every Friday (average 6.5 hours)
- Support communication in a behavioral classroom, excluding lunch and school arrival/dismissal periods
- Collaborate with the regular Language Facilitator to ensure consistent coverage and seamless support for the student
- Step in to substitute as needed if the primary facilitator is absent
- Adjust interpreting strategies to accommodate assistive devices used by the student
