What we’re looking for:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and fluency as a sign language interpreter
- Certification as an interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or similar preferred)
- Previous experience interpreting in a school setting is highly desirable
- Strong ability to adapt communication style for a variety of ages and learning needs
- Professionalism, reliability, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Openness to both in-person and virtual assignments
Key responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for students during classroom lessons, extracurricular activities, meetings, and other school functions
- Foster clear communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics in all interactions
- Adapt to diverse settings and adjust interpretation methods as needed
- Work collaboratively with school staff and participate in relevant meetings, when appropriate
