Essential Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and excellent expressive/receptive interpreting skills
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in school or pediatric settings
- Familiarity with virtual interpreting platforms and comfort delivering services remotely
- Ability to follow educational plans and collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families
- National certification such as RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) or EIPA preferred
- Clear background check and compliance with school requirements
Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering 1:1 sign language interpretation for a student during virtual classes, activities, and school-related communications
- Facilitating clear and accurate communication between the student, educators, therapists, and peers
- Supporting the student’s participation, engagement, and learning in the virtual school environment
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional standards of conduct
- Collaborating with the educational team to address any communication or access needs and ensuring student progress is supported
