Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting skills in educational settings
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (state or national credential preferred)
- Previous experience working in K-12 schools or with children/adolescents is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to collaborate with educators, specialists, and families
- Flexibility and adaptability in fast-paced and evolving environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and teachers, staff, and peers
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and events
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations and access are effectively provided
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethical standards at all times
- Participate in meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) reviews, and other relevant school functions as needed
- Consult with team members to help support student engagement and progress
