This assignment is set to start as soon as possible and will continue through the end of May 2027, offering a stable and rewarding placement. As the sole interpreter working closely with one student at a single school location, you’ll develop a meaningful professional connection and deliver consistent, high-quality interpretation across all academic settings and activities.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledgeable about Deaf culture and best practices in education.
- Required EIPA Score of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior experience providing sign language interpreting services, especially in K-12 settings, strongly preferred.
- Friendly, adaptable, and professional demeanor, with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards as outlined by professional interpreting organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, precise sign language interpreting during classroom instruction, activities, and other daily routines.
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers.
- Adapt interpreting techniques to accommodate the student’s individual needs and school curriculum.
- Collaborate with educational staff and take part in relevant planning to enhance the student’s learning environment.
