Key Qualifications:
- EIPA Score of 3.0 or above (required)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in a school setting is strongly preferred
- Ability to foster inclusive communication and promote student success
- Strong organizational skills and professionalism
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and student dignity
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time, 1:1 ASL interpretation for a student during all classroom activities, instruction, and school events
- Collaborate closely with educational staff, teachers, and support personnel to optimize the student’s learning environment
- Help facilitate communication between the student and their peers to encourage engagement and inclusion
- Accurately interpret spoken content and convey information with cultural and linguistic sensitivity
- Monitor student comprehension and advocate for the most effective accommodations as needed
- Maintain accurate daily records related to interpreting services and student progress
