Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpretation
- Previous experience in a school or educational environment preferred, but not required
- Understanding of the unique communication needs of children and adolescents
- Familiarity with classroom protocols and the ability to adapt language to age-appropriate levels
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Professional certification, such as EIPA, RID, or state licensure, is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Foster an inclusive environment for students by bridging communication gaps between staff, students, and families
- Adapt signing techniques to match individual student needs and classroom subjects
- Support teachers in providing instruction and maintaining an effective learning environment
- Maintain confidentiality and support student privacy in all communications
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed
