Essential Qualifications:
- Current Illinois SLI License issued by ISBE
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting within school settings or with children/adolescents preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Adaptable, professional, and able to work collaboratively with educators and staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in classroom and school activities
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Support students’ access to curriculum and participation in school events
- Maintain confidentiality and follow district guidelines regarding student information
- Collaborate closely with education teams to address individual student needs
This contract role features a consistent weekday schedule, Monday through Friday, at 5 hours per week—perfect for interpreters seeking flexibility or supplementary experience. The pay range for this position is $31 to $33 per hour, paid weekly for your convenience.
