Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Certification
- Current BEI Certification required
- Experience working with K-12 students preferred
- Strong understanding of educational environments and classroom communication protocols
- Commitment to confidentiality and fostering an inclusive atmosphere
Role Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language and classroom materials into American Sign Language (ASL), and vice versa, to facilitate communication between students, peers, and staff
- Work directly with students across a variety of grade levels, from kindergarten through high school
- Collaborate with educational team members to support individualized education plans (IEPs) as needed
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and student progress
- Adapt interpreting methods to meet each student's unique learning and communication needs
- Participate in meetings, workshops, or school events as assigned
