In this unique role, you’ll facilitate communication for a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom, providing American Sign Language interpretation during instructional times every Friday, and stepping in to cover additional days if needed.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a sign language interpreter, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of supporting students with cochlear implants, hearing aids, and other assistive devices
- Valid interpreter certification or licensure as required
- Ability to collaborate and adapt in an educational team setting
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Language Facilitator for a 9th-grade student during instructional hours
- Support effective communication between student and staff
- Substitute for the M-Th interpreter when necessary
- Document services and maintain confidentiality
- Contribute to the student's academic and behavioral support team
