Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and fluency in both receptive and expressive signing
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings strongly preferred
- Familiarity with interpreting in high school academic and extracurricular environments
- Current interpreter certification (preferably RID or state equivalent) is a plus
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and other service providers
- Strong commitment to supporting student growth and participation
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities from spoken English to ASL (and vice versa)
- Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, and school staff
- Adapt to diverse subjects and a variety of instructional formats
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to established codes of professional conduct
- Support students’ academic, social, and personal development within the school environment
