Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting is strongly preferred
- Comfortable working with high school-aged students
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and students
- Professional certification or credentials appropriate for school settings (as required by state or district guidelines)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken English into ASL, and ASL into spoken English during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings
- Foster inclusive communication among students, teachers, and staff
- Support students in accessing curriculum and participating fully in school life
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interpreting scenarios
- Adapt to various subjects and classroom environments throughout the school day
