Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting proficiency.
- Valid certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Experience working with high school-aged students in an educational environment is highly desirable.
- Understanding of IEPs and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality and adhering to school policies and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time ASL interpretation during classroom instruction, discussions, and school events for high school students.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers, ensuring full participation in academic and extracurricular activities.
- Translate written materials as needed to ensure comprehension.
- Support student independence and advocacy within the classroom.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
- Participate in relevant meetings and contribute insights to individualized education planning.
