Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent)
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience interpreting for high school students preferred
- Understanding of educational interpreting practices and student confidentiality
- Adaptability and professionalism in school environments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, staff, and peers using ASL
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities for high school students
- Collaborate with educators to understand lesson content and adapt interpretations as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions
- Support students’ participation and engagement throughout the school day
- Provide feedback or reports as required for student progress
