Educational Sign Language Interpreter - North Adams, Massachusetts

Your expertise in American Sign Language and commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom will be vital as you interpret classroom instruction and interactions.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings
• Ability to interpret for young children, ideally with experience supporting early childhood or preschool students
• Experience collaborating with educators and support staff, including virtual team members
• Certification/licensure as required by state regulations for educational interpreting
• Strong commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide in-person sign language interpretation for a 3-year-old student during all classroom activities
• Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff
• Collaborate with a virtual DHH teacher regarding lesson plans and student progress
• Adapt communication styles as needed to ensure student comprehension
• Support a positive, inclusive learning environment for the student
