Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Palatine, IL

Your interpreting skills will be needed in a contract position supporting students and staff. Choose from two schedule options to fit your needs:
Position 1:
- Located at a center specializing in supporting diverse learners
- Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm
- Contract term from start date through May 28, 2027
Position 2:
- Based at a local high school, fostering an inclusive classroom environment
- Monday through Friday, 8am to 12pm
- Contract term from start date through May 20, 2027
Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with ISBE Approval, or 3.0–3.4 with interim ISBE Interim Approval
- Credentials such as BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC with ISBE Approval
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
- Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative spirit
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation between students, staff, and peers
- Support educational access and social interaction for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Collaborate with teachers and other school personnel to promote an inclusive environment
- Adapt communication style as needed to meet student needs
