Two contract opportunities are available for skilled Sign Language Interpreters, each supporting students and staff in nearby schools. Qualifications:
- Proficiency in sign language interpretation within school environments
- One of the following certifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Approval
- EIPA score between 3.0-3.4 with ISBE Interim Approval
- BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentialed and ISBE-approved
- Professionalism, reliability, and adaptability for work in dynamic school settings
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate interpretation services between students, staff, and educators to promote inclusive learning
- Work closely with teachers and school personnel to support student engagement and participation
- Maintain ethical standards of interpreting and respect for student confidentiality
- Collaborate with education teams to adapt to individual needs and classroom activities
- Participate in school meetings and professional development as required
Position Details:
- 1st Position: Located at an educational center, full days (Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm) through May 28, 2027
- 2nd Position: Morning schedule at a local high school (Monday-Friday, 8am-12:00pm) through May 20, 2027
- Both roles are onsite only
