Make an impact by supporting a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom as a Language Facilitator specializing in ASL during the 2026-2027 school year. This part-time contract position is ideal for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter seeking a meaningful, focused schedule. Work exclusively on Fridays (6.5 hours per week) while collaborating with another professional who covers Mondays through Thursdays. The student you'll assist uses cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device, communicates with ASL, and is transitioning back into a traditional learning environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience providing interpretation services in educational settings
- Prior work supporting students with behavioral and/or special needs is a plus
- Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with students, teachers, and staff
- Professional certifications or proof of licensure required
- Reliable, adaptable, and collaborative—open to subbing if the primary facilitator is absent
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver ASL interpretation during academic instructional times (excluding breaks, arrival, and dismissal)
- Foster an inclusive and accessible classroom environment for a student navigating both hearing and communication challenges
- Collaborate effectively with co-facilitators, teachers, and support staff
- Contribute to the student’s social-emotional and academic growth as they adjust to the school environment
