Support a high school student’s learning experience as a skilled American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter in a contract Language Facilitator role for the 2026–2027 school year. In this rewarding part-time opportunity, you’ll assist a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom every Friday, ensuring communication access and fostering academic engagement during instructional hours. This is a job share position with an established team, allowing for a focused workload and meaningful impact.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in ASL with experience in educational settings
- Demonstrated ability to work with students who have hearing assistive technologies (cochlear implants, hearing aids, ALD devices)
- Previous work with high school or behavioral needs students preferred
- Current licensure/certification as a Sign Language Interpreter required
- Flexibility to substitute when the primary facilitator is absent (Monday–Thursday if needed)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation during all instructional periods for one 9th-grade student
- Collaborate with teaching staff and support teams
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all educational and ethical standards
- Participate in team meetings and contribute insights on student progress
