We are currently seeking multiple onsite Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs) to join a supportive school district in the Sacramento, California area. As a School-Based Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers, peers, and school staff. Responsibilities
- Provide sign language interpretation services for students in classroom and school-related settings
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
- Support student access to academic instruction and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with educators and special education teams
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards
- Attend meetings, school events, and activities as needed to support student success
Qualifications
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter preferred
- Educational Interpreter certification or equivalent credentials preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and school staff
- Passion for supporting students and fostering inclusive learning environments
