Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting
- Familiarity or experience working with students who use cochlear implants, hearing aids, or assistive listening devices
- Ability to convey educational content and facilitate communication in a behavioral or specialized classroom
- Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to adapt communication approaches for individual student needs
- Valid state certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter or Language Facilitator
Your Responsibilities:
- Support one 9th-grade student during instructional hours (approximately 6.5 hours per Friday); lunch and transition times are excluded
- Foster effective communication between the student, peers, and instructional staff
- Monitor and adapt interpreting services according to classroom dynamics and student response
- Serve as a substitute facilitator if the regular M-Th interpreter is absent
- Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to contribute to the student’s academic and social growth
