Work on-site each Friday for approximately 6.5 hours, collaborating with a dedicated educational team in a supportive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with experience interpreting in educational settings.
- Ability to facilitate communication for students with hearing differences, particularly those utilizing assistive listening devices such as cochlear implants, hearing aids, and ALDs.
- Experience working with students in behavioral classrooms preferred.
- Demonstrated patience, professionalism, and adaptability in changing classroom environments.
- Proper licensure and credentials to serve as a Sign Language Interpreter within schools.
- Willingness to collaborate and share responsibilities with another Language Facilitator during the school week, filling in as a substitute as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction for a 9th grade student in a behavioral class exclusively during instructional time.
- Ensure clear, accurate communication between student, teachers, and peers.
- Adjust interpreting methods to suit the student’s fluctuating needs and his identification as hearing.
- Coordinate with another Language Facilitator to ensure seamless coverage Monday–Friday when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold best practices in educational interpreting.
