Remote Sign Language Interpreter in WA
An educational setting in Tacoma, WA is seeking a full-time Sign Language Interpreter to support a diverse caseload primarily at the middle school level. This contract position operates Monday through Friday, from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM, providing consistent hours to facilitate effective communication for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing sign language interpreting services in various settings such as DHH classrooms, general education classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one interactions.
- Facilitating communication access to ensure all students engage fully in their educational environment.
- Collaborating with educators and support staff within a structured DHH program that offers substantial resources and support.
Key qualifications:
- A preferred EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher.
- Proven experience interpreting within educational settings, particularly middle school environments.
- Strong proficiency in sign language and telehealth interpretation techniques.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload effectively, demonstrating flexibility and professionalism.
