Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Arvada, Colorado
Step into a meaningful role supporting students with diverse communication needs as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for a contract position in a vibrant educational setting near Arvada, CO. This full-time, full-school-year itinerant opportunity places you within a range of elementary, middle, and high schools, working with students in both special education and general education classrooms, from mild to severe needs.
You’ll be collaborating with teachers and staff to ensure students receive equal access to learning and social experiences. Your EIPA score of 3.5 or above and valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Authorization are essential, as you’ll be relied upon for expert interpretation across multiple campus environments.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- State-mandated CDE Authorization for educational interpreting (required)
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (mandatory for consideration)
- Previous experience as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter highly preferred
- Proficiency interpreting in both special education and mainstream educational settings
- Ability to adapt to various classroom subjects and student needs with professionalism
- Willingness to travel between multiple school sites within the district
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students, teachers, and staff across various educational settings
- Support both individual and group instruction in SPED and general education environments
- Adjust interpretation style as needed for diverse learners, ranging from mild to severe needs
