Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Englewood, Colorado
Share your expertise as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter in an itinerant, contract position supporting students across multiple schools. This full-time, full school year opportunity involves working both with special education and general education populations, ranging from mild to severe needs, offering essential language access to students and school communities.
As an onsite interpreter, you will travel between various campuses, collaborating with educators, students, and families. Your role will provide critical support in educational settings, bridging communication and fostering inclusion. This position requires a strong understanding of the unique needs of each student and flexibility to adapt to different classrooms and content areas throughout the day.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Authorization for educational sign language interpreting
- Minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5
- Experience serving K-12 school populations in both special education and general education settings
- Ability to support a variety of communication needs, working with students across a wide spectrum of abilities
- Comfortable traveling between multiple sites within a school district
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, educators, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver interpreting services in classrooms, school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Adapt interpreting style and strategies to fit individual student needs and educational contexts
- Serve as a language and cultural mediator, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity
- Prepare for assignments by understanding lesson plans and relevant vocabulary
- Document services as required by the district
