Sign Language Interpreter in Bremerton, WA
Make an impact by enhancing educational access and communication for D/deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students in a vibrant elementary school setting. This contract position offers 31.5 hours per week from September 3, 2025, to June 23, 2026, and focuses on delivering top-tier sign language interpretation services within classroom and school environments.
Your expertise in sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation will be essential in supporting IDEA, ADA, and related legal compliance. Working closely with students, teachers, and staff, you’ll play a key role in creating inclusive and effective learning experiences. There’s also opportunity to support instructional activities under teacher guidance, further contributing to students’ academic and social development.
Desired Qualifications:
- Completion of a verifiable Interpreter Training Program
- Current RID certification and/or EIPA assessment score of 4.0 or higher (in compliance with Washington State law)
- Valid Washington State driver’s license or ability to demonstrate alternative mobility
- Prior experience in school settings is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation in a variety of educational contexts
- Facilitate clear communication between D/HH students, staff, and the broader school community
- Support compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
- Collaborate with educators to advance instructional goals and student inclusion
- May assist with educational activities as directed by teaching staff
