Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Federal Way, Washington

This contract opportunity allows you to utilize your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) within school settings, ensuring clear and meaningful communication access for learners who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL), with demonstrated fluency
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL instructor, preferably within educational or school settings
- Knowledge of interpreting techniques and ethical standards
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, counselors, and other school personnel
- Sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Certification or eligibility for state/national interpreter credentials preferred
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken and signed communication between students, staff, and educators during classroom activities, meetings, and school events
- Adapt and adjust interpretation methods to accommodate individual student needs
- Foster a supportive learning atmosphere that values communication access and inclusion
- Assist with the instruction or reinforcement of ASL as needed
- Work closely with teaching teams to discuss strategies for student engagement
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the standards of professional conduct
