Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Joliet, IL

What You Bring:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills required
- Prior experience working in elementary or K-12 school environments is highly valued
- Ability to adapt communication styles to meet the needs of students of varying ages and backgrounds
- Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering inclusive, supportive classroom environments
- Professional certification or licensure (such as EIPA, RID, or state credentialing) strongly preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpreting services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classrooms and school activities
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers to promote full participation in educational settings
- Rotate between multiple school buildings as needed, with the primary full-time need at the elementary school level
- Step in and cover interpreting assignments in various buildings during staff absences
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions
