Sign Language Interpreter in Naperville, IL

The full-time opportunity is primarily based at an elementary school, while additional interpreting services are needed in four other buildings within the district. Flexibility to provide coverage in different locations in the event of absences is highly valued.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting experience in educational settings
- Holds (or is eligible for) the necessary interpreter certification as required by state guidelines
- Familiarity with the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students in K-12 environments
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to different school environments and support students of varied age groups
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, and school staff using ASL and voice interpreting
- Assist with classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings to ensure full access for students
- Transition between multiple school buildings as needed to provide coverage and maintain consistent services
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to promote student success and inclusion
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with school and district policies
