Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Hold active Oklahoma Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST), Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), or TASK 12 credentials.
- Previous school-based educational interpreting experience preferred, especially with high school students.
- Strong command of American Sign Language and English, with proven ability to facilitate clear, accurate, and confidential communication.
- Understanding of educational settings and the specific needs of Deaf/hard-of-hearing students.
- Collaborative spirit with teachers, service providers, and school staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate sign language interpreting for one high school student across all classroom subjects and school activities.
- Support student participation and comprehension during instructional time, class discussions, extracurriculars, and social interactions.
- Assist in adapting communication style based on classroom context and student needs.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all educational and community interactions.
- Collaborate with educators and student support staff to ensure a positive and accessible learning environment.
