In this vital role, you'll:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students, staff, and families in classroom settings, assemblies, and meetings
- Translate spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa
- Collaborate with teaching staff to support students’ learning experiences
- Help foster an inclusive, supportive environment that empowers students to reach their fullest potential
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times
- Continue professional growth by staying current with best interpreting practices
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
- Ability to interpret in both one-on-one and group situations
- Familiarity with classroom dynamics and supporting teachers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Reliability, adaptability, and compassion are musts
- Certification or relevant qualifications in interpreting or ASL are highly valued
