Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience working with students in educational settings (middle school experience preferred)
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification or state equivalent, preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and school staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers or teachers via ASL interpretation
- Support classroom learning and ensure access to instructional materials
- Assist with interpreting during extracurricular events as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and follow ethical standards related to interpretation
- Provide cultural mediation when appropriate
