Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and demonstrated ability to interpret accurately and efficiently in an educational environment
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in school or youth-focused settings
- Current national or state certification (such as RID or EIPA) preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and families while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality interpreting services for a high school student, supporting classroom learning, extracurricular activities, and important school events
- Facilitate clear, respectful communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Adapt interpreting techniques to suit a variety of educational topics and classroom dynamics
- Consult regularly with educational staff to ensure the student’s needs are met and to maintain consistency in support
- Uphold ethical standards and maintain detailed, accurate documentation as required by the school
