Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Puyallup, Washington
Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant, highly structured Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program. Your expertise will enable middle school students to access education in both general education and DHH classrooms, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. Key Qualifications:
- Experience and proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings.
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher preferred.
- Ability to adapt interpreting styles to both small group and 1:1 student interactions.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with teachers and staff.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom experience for DHH students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for middle school students in both specialized DHH and general education classrooms.
- Support small group activities as well as individualized instruction as needed.
- Collaborate with educators and the larger DHH team to ensure effective communication for all students.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards within the school community.
- Encourage student engagement and facilitate accessibility throughout the school day.
This position is a full-time contract role, Monday through Friday, 7:45 am–2:45 pm, offering you a steady routine alongside a talented, dedicated team. Enjoy the opportunity to work within a district recognized for its strong, comprehensive DHH support system.
