Key Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher required
- Experience interpreting in educational settings
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with students and staff
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical interpreting standards
- Reliability and punctuality for consistent on-site support
- Preference for candidates with previous 1:1 student experience
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 sign language interpretation for an elementary school student throughout the school day
- Foster understanding and inclusion by bridging communication between the student, peers, and educators
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school teams to facilitate participation in all academic and extracurricular activities
- Support the student’s developing language skills in a positive, patient manner
- Clearly and accurately interpret classroom instruction, activities, and school communications
- Maintain detailed records of interpreting services as required by the school
