In this position, you’ll provide individualized sign language interpretation services for an elementary-aged student, ensuring effective communication and access to instruction throughout the school day. Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher required
- Proven proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting strongly preferred
- Knowledge of relevant educational terminology and protocols
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and student’s family
- Professionalism, reliability, and a compassionate, student-centered approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for an elementary-aged student during instructional and non-instructional times
- Accurately convey spoken and signed communication between teachers, peers, and the student
- Support the student’s participation in classroom activities and school functions
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to facilitate an inclusive learning environment
- Adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions and documentation
