Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum EIPA score of 4.0 required
- Experience in educational settings, particularly working 1:1 with younger children, is highly valued
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to accurately interpret classroom instruction, interactions, and activities
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal communication skills
Primary Duties:
- Serve as an in-person interpreter for an elementary-school student throughout the school day
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Support the student’s learning by ensuring equal access to all classroom content and discussions
- Adhere to district and professional standards of confidentiality and ethics
- Collaborate with educational staff regarding the student's needs and progress
- Adapt interpreting style and strategies based on activity, setting, and individual requirements
