Qualifications:
- Valid credential as a Sign Language Interpreter, with an EIPA score of 4.0 or higher
- Prior experience supporting elementary-age students in school settings is strongly preferred
- Proven expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with best practices in educational interpreting
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other educational staff
- Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person sign language interpretation between a single elementary student and staff throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication in a variety of educational environments, including classroom instruction, activities, and special events
- Support the student’s social and academic participation, ensuring understanding and accessibility at all times
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district and program guidelines
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for the student while building strong working relationships with the school team
