Key Qualifications & Experience:
- EIPA certification of 4.0 or higher (required)
- Demonstrated expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in educational settings
- Proven experience in supporting elementary-age students is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with educators and staff
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one interpreting services to an elementary student to support full participation in classroom activities
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers to promote engagement and learning
- Accurately interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa
- Work closely with educators to adapt interpreting strategies based on classroom needs
- Maintain clear and consistent documentation when required
- Uphold high ethical standards in line with interpreting best practices
This position is a contract role, running from early August through the end of May, with full-time hours of 37.5 per week on campus. The assignment is exclusively in-person and offers the chance to see your direct impact in a vibrant school community.
